Take your problem, then break it in to smaller parts then implement the smaller parts. If the smaller parts are still too big then break it down further until you get to a point where you can create a "simple alarm application".
Now, we can help on specific elements of your application, but we cannot help with a whole application in a forum post.
Also, what do you mean by "a simple alarm"?
The following code could be perceived to be "a simple alarm":
Thread.Sleep(60000);
Console.WriteLine("Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!");

Past tense - so you have finished? (I'll assume you got your tenses confused, otherwise you wouldn't be making this post)

Okay - then break the problem down into smaller parts.
Inputs: current time, alarm time
Outputs: At specified time "ring an alarm"
* The current time can be got from DateTime.Now
* The alarm time will have to be got from somewhere: Where? User input, config file, database, somewhere on the web??
* What do you mean by "ring an alarm"?

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to import online published Schema in to another schema in Biztalk 2006?
Thanks

Well, you could use a string builder to iterate over the second group of strings and build it into a single string. There's no automatic way to do it, you need to do it yourself.

Is there a component/addin for VS that provides incremental searching/filtering of components in ToolBox.
For example I'm designing a form and need to place a button control.
I would then type letters (b, u, t, t, ... ) inside search/filter box and all component classes matching entered characters would be filtered inside ToolBox or displayed within a DropDown window.
Thanks.

Hi, i've got a problem when using the localization possibilities of .NET.
I'm using sharpDevelop2 and i created two language files (en-US and fr-FR) to match the two languages. When i compile the soft, it work whell but the dll files created from the resx files are in two folders named fr-FR and en-US directly on the program root.
I'm searching for a way to create a global 'lang' folder in whitch i will put the languages folder.
I tried to put the resx files in a 'lang' folder created in my solution but the compilation faild because the resx files are dependent of the MainForm.cs and in this case it does not find this file.
Is there any way to do that in sharpdevelop ? If yes could you explain ?
or sould i use VS ?
I hope it's clear, thank for help.

AFAIK you cannot do what you want to (no matter which IDE you use) since the framework has a fix algorithm to look for those satellite assemblies.

OK so if i understand, if i want to localize my application for 100 languages, the compilation will create 100 directories directly in the program root !
I've never seen a program with such directory architecture !! So if i want to put my language dll files in an other directory, i have to do it by hands, could you give me a good solution to do that ?
thanks.

Maybe this (ResourceManager.CreateFileBasedResourceManager ) can help you, but I'm not sure as I never needed to circumvent the standard procedure. If not, search the docs starting from the System.Resources namespace.

Odds are, the rich text box does not do that, and you'll need to write a custom control. Although, I suspect you could kludge it together.

I know there is no input box class in C# and we have to either import it from VB or write a custom input box.
But currently while I'm working with my program, it is an excel-like program with a grid table on the GUI, user can enter data into any cell on that (like an excel sheet), I come across a problem that whenever I call the input box to display, the currently selected cell will lose all its data.
I tried both the input box from VB and made a new form to display my custom input box, but the problem is still the same.
Can anyone help me identify why this happen ? I really have no idea why pop up a new form would make the currently selected cell in current form lose all the data, especially when the other cells remained unchanged.
Regards

What's wrong with a textbox ? What on earth is an inport box, that you need to import it from VB ?

Well there is really nothing wrong with a text box, but I don't need a text box here.
What I need is a pop up box to ask user input something and allow them to confirm/cancel with button, and that's why I need an Input box

OK, then you need to create a form that does that.

Please read my original post again.
I do know that I need to create a form to do that, and I already did. But the problem is that whenever I call that form, my cell data got erased.

Hello,
Are you passing information to that form, like the instance of your control?
Give us more information what this form is doing.
All the best,
Martin

This is all I do with that input box, I don't pass in any control
InputBoxResult result = InputBox.Show("Enter alias:", "Some title", "Default", new InputBoxValidatingHandler(inputBox_Validating));
InputBoxResult is a class that have a boolean value for validating input and a text value for input string.
Here is the method that I use to show the form:
public static InputBoxResult Show(string prompt, string title, string defaultResponse, InputBoxValidatingHandler validator, int xpos, int ypos) {
using (InputBox form = new InputBox()) {
form.labelPrompt.Text = prompt;
form.Text = title;
form.textBoxText.Text = defaultResponse;
if (xpos >= 0 && ypos >= 0) {
form.StartPosition = FormStartPosition.Manual;
form.Left = xpos;
form.Top = ypos;
}
form.Validator = validator;
DialogResult result = form.ShowDialog();
InputBoxResult retval = new InputBoxResult();
if (result == DialogResult.OK) {
retval.Text = form.textBoxText.Text;
retval.OK = true;
}
return retval;
}
}
I want to get this input string and set it as the cell alias. Well I can get that string, but whenever the form pop up, my cell goes empty
